Wine Chef Discovery - Rouge Tomate's New Spring Menu Item: Roasted Carrots and Radicchio With Quinoa
/Last Fall I wrote with enthusiasm about the new incarnation of Rouge Tomate in Chelsea. I also included it in my "Where to Eat in NYC - 2017".
I am now happy to report that, after opening a year ago, Rouge Tomate is still going strong. There are several new fresh and tasty items on the menu and I am in love with the Roasted Carrots with quinoa, radicchio, coconut and jalapeño. The dish is perfectly balanced with just a hint of spice from the jalapeño and a whisper of coconut in the sauce. The roasted and glazed vegetables have just the right amount of sweetness and the soft and pillowy quinoa has a texture similar to rice pudding.
I tried many other dishes and they were all delicious and I think you should go have a taste for yourself!
The beverage menu is extensive with all kinds of interesting selections: juices, teas, ciders, farmhouse and sour beers, seasonal cocktails and organic, biodynamic and natural wines. There is even vermouth on tap!
Rouge Tomate's location since the Fall of 2016 is in a landmarked carriage house at 126 West 18th Street in Chelsea. No surprise that the food is also of landmarked quality!
